“Two bananas a day keep the doctor away.” This is the claim of Dr. Willie Ong, one of the volunteer doctors of the weekend morning show of ABS-CBN, “Salamat Dok.” In his official Facebook page, the good doctor posted a lengthy article explaining the benefits of the humble banana to the human body.
He revealed that among any other fruits, banana is the healthiest fruit around.
According to Dr. Ong, a 100 gram banana is said to contain “88 calories, 430 I.U of Vitamin A, .04 mg of Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), 10 mg. Vitamin C, 8 mg. Calcium, 6 mg. Iron, 28 mg. Phosphorus, 260 mg. Potassium, 23 grams Carbohydrates, and 1.2 mg. Protein.”

It is said that that banana has an antacid called phospholid, that is good for those people who suffer from ulcers and hyperacidity. It also has flavonoid that acts like a cover on the wounds of your stomach’s inner lining.
Banana is rich in potassium and vitamins which are good for the heart. The doctor recommends eating a banana a day for people who take heart and high blood pressure medication.
It is also rich in fiber which helps you fight the risk of having a colon cancer and other lower intestinal issues.
A banana could be considered a multivitamin because it has vitamins A, B, and C, Calcium, Iron, and Potassium.
